Breakthrough Listen and the SETI Institute have deployed agentic AI at the Allen Telescope Array in Northern California, using the NVIDIA Holoscan platform and on-premises NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs to process 2.4 terabits per second of live radio-telescope sensor data in flight and achieve the first real-time AI detection of a pulsar in the Crab Nebula (NVIDIA Blog). On the same day, Nvidia denied a New York Times report claiming CEO Jensen Huang was targeted via a Singapore data-center executive (ABC7 News), DoorDash CEO Tony Xu disclosed that third-party AI agents have placed only "several hundred" food orders compared with 3 million daily deliveries (TechCrunch), Pope Leo XIV urged United Nations member states to ban lethal autonomous weapons (The Verge), and Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz warned investors about due-diligence pitfalls in the AI boom (TechCrunch).

NVIDIA Holoscan and RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs Steer the Allen Telescope Array

At the Allen Telescope Array, SETI Institute researchers led by Andrew Siemion — Bernard M. Oliver chair for SETI and principal investigator of Breakthrough Listen — use the DAQIRI Holoscan library to stream 2.4 terabits per second directly into GPU memory, CyberEther with NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries (cuFFT and cuBLAS) for signal math, and the web-based Nexus observatory orchestrator as an agent harness (NVIDIA Blog). From a single natural-language prompt, AI agents steer the array's antennae, calibrate instruments, correct data errors, and plot live spectrograms, while the team evaluates open NVIDIA Nemotron models for future lunar far-side observatories.

Separately on Friday, Nvidia and Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun denied a Thursday New York Times report alleging U.S. intelligence officials determined that Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based data center company Megaspeed International who was photographed with Jensen Huang in 2024, funneled information to Beijing (ABC7 News). Nvidia stated that Huang speaks with thousands of customer executives every year as part of his routine duties, following his January 2026 agreement clearing advanced chip sales with 25% of profits going to the U.S. government and his attendance at September White House events and an Oct. 8, 2026 event at the U.S. Institute of Peace.

DoorDash Logs 'Several Hundred' AI Agent Orders as Pope Leo XIV and Tyler Shultz Weigh In

During DoorDash's 3rd-quarter earnings call, CEO Tony Xu told analysts that third-party personal shopping agents — such as Muse, Instinct, and Fo — have generated only "several hundred" orders in total, compared with the company's 2025 average of 3 million daily deliveries (TechCrunch). While Amazon has blocked third-party agents and Walmart has welcomed them, DoorDash has rolled out its own Ask DoorDash chatbot (launched in June), a CLI agent (July), a text-to-order agent (September), and a corporate Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.

In global AI governance, Pope Leo XIV — the Chicago-born pontiff formerly known as Robert Prevost, who also became the 1st pope in history to cast a U.S. general election ballot by returning a mail-in ballot requested Oct. 3 from his New Lenox, Illinois registration after voting in 5 primaries since 2000 (ABC7 News) — used his Friday papal address to urge United Nations member states meeting in Geneva next month to ban lethal autonomous weapons (The Verge). Building on his May encyclical and Pope Francis's 2024 appeal, Pope Leo declared that "Machines are tools, not persons," warning against granting AI systems legal personhood. Meanwhile, Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz (grandson of former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz) told The San Francisco Standard and TechCrunch amid the release of Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's documentary You Can See Everything — which follows Elizabeth Holmes before her 11+-year prison sentence after Theranos reached a $10 billion peak valuation ($100,000 coffee checks scaled to $100 million) and notes her partner Billy Evans's new $20 million-funded diagnostics startup Haemanthus — that differentiating genuine AI breakthroughs from "a ChatGPT wrapper" makes due diligence critical (TechCrunch).
