Venture investment in AI inference optimization and specialized cloud compute accelerated Tuesday with two major funding rounds: Nvidia participated in a $14 million all-primary Series B valuing Bengaluru- and U.S.-focused inference software startup Simplismart at roughly $100 million, while specialized inference neocloud General Compute raised $100 million in Series A funding at an $800 million post-money valuation, according to reports by TechCrunch (Simplismart and General Compute).
Nvidia Collaborates With Simplismart on Dynamo Inference Software
Led by Dallas Venture Capital alongside Nvidia, Accel, Shastra VC, and Micromax, Simplismart’s $14 million Series B backs a 58-person company founded in 2022 by BITS Pilani alumni Amritanshu Jain (formerly of Oracle) and Devansh Ghatak (formerly of Google). Simplismart’s orchestration layer sits between AI models and GPU infrastructure to balance latency, throughput, and total cost of ownership—cutting GPU serving costs by 56% for InVideo and powering workloads for HeyGen, Higgsfield, Ema, and Indian cloud provider Yotta’s Shakti Studio.
Jain told TechCrunch that Simplismart’s annualized revenue run rate grew 14-fold over the past six months to an eight-figure sum, with more than half of its revenue generated in the United States, and that Simplismart engineers are collaborating with Nvidia solutions architects on technical integrations around Nvidia’s Dynamo inference software.
General Compute Hits $800M Valuation on $100M ARR Customer Deal
Separately, General Compute—valued at $60 million after its May seed round—closed a $100 million Series A co-led by Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures after securing a customer contract worth $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Rather than building greenfield hyperscale data centers or chasing standard GPUs, CEO Finn Puklowski’s startup rents existing data center space, converts former Bitcoin-mining sites, and deploys specialized inference chips from SambaNova (backed by a $400 million debt-financed chip purchase), Positron, and Cerebras, targeting 75 megawatts of deployed capacity in 2027.
